Songs and Praise

University of Leicester Christian Union Churches' Fair.

AFM Leicester attended a churches' fair event at the University of Leicester (UoL) on the 28th of September. The churches' fair is an annual event organised by the UoL Christian Union Society for new students at the University, with the purpose of finding a local church in Leicester at which they can worship and fellowship throughout their time in Leicester.

AFM Leicester representatives arrived at around 7 p.m to set up the table for the fair. All church representatives were then invited to join the Christian Union Society's weekly meeting.  The meeting started with praise and worship, In Christ alone was the first song to be rendered.

After praise and worship, Andrew Brown a UCCF staff worker spoke about the CU and its mission. He stressed the point that the CU is not a christian social club nor a church neither is it a christian dating agent but told participants that the CU is a student mission team with the aim of reaching out to students on campus in other to share the gospel with them. He advised freshers and undergraduates to speak to churches at the fair to find a church where they can settle-in and worship during their time in Leicester.
Mr Brown admonished participant to trust God. He read from Psalm 34; he further encouraged the participants that those who look to God for help will find radiant light. From Psalm 34:8 " O Taste  and see that the LORD is good"  he exhorted freshers, christians and non-christians to seek God. He further stated that those who already knew the Lord should keep close to him to continue to enjoy his goodness, greatness and that the CU wants to tell the campus to taste and see that the Lord is good.
Finally, He encouraged all participants to keep being part of the CU and prayed at the end of his message. The meeting continued with praise and worship; Bless the Lord oh my soul as the last song. After praise and worship, they gave the announcement and the churches' fair commenced. The' fair was attended by a lot of students and about 16 local churches in Leicester. The AFM representatives spoke to students and told them about our organization. AFM representatives gave out tract to students let them all know that they are welcome to join us for our services and that we will be glad to have them in our midst.
